New York State Association of Neuropsychology (NYSAN) presents a live webinar with Yael Rothman, Ph.D.
While providing feedback to parents and caregivers after an evaluation is an expected part of the process, additional feedback directly with the children and adolescents themselves is not always completed. However, empowering children and adolescents by sharing the findings can be possibly an even more critical component of the evaluation process. This talk will review the importance of providing feedback to children and adolescents, give ideas for how to share this information in an effective way, and provide some developmentally appropriate resources.
Dr. Yael Rothman is a pediatric neuropsychologist and owner of Rothman Pediatric Neuropsychology (rothmanpediatricneuropsychology.com). She specializes in comprehensive evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of conditions that impact learning, behavior, social skills, and/or emotional functioning. Dr. Rothman trained at the University of Michigan and Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Upon completing her postdoctoral fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., she stayed on as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences until moving to private practice. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Rothman has presented at national and international conferences, published over a dozen articles in peer-reviewed journals, and given lectures to parents and schools. She co-authored the Different Thinkers series, designed to teach elementary-aged children about their diagnoses. Different Thinkers: ADHD was published in January 2024, Different Thinkers: Autism was published in March 2025, and Different Thinkers: Dyslexia will be published in October 2026. She shares an Instagram account with her co-author (@neuropsychmoms) to provide evidence-based information to parents/caregivers.
