New York State Association of Neuropsychology (NYSAN) presents a live webinar with Kyle B. Boone, Ph.D., ABPP-ABCN
In this workshop, participants will be helped to problem-solve how to respond to demands within the legal arena for access by non-psychologists to protected neuropsychological/psychological test information and materials, and demands for third party observation (including audio-recordings) of exams. Participants will be alerted as to publications within the field of neuropsychology and psychology regarding test security that can be used to educate the judicial system on the importance of psychology test protection. Additionally, participants will be provided with sample retention letters that address our policies on maintain test security, and declarations that can be provided to retaining attorneys to assist them in protecting psychological/neuropsychological tests on our behalf. Workshop discussion will also include methods to modify test forms to eliminate protected test information for those circumstances in which neuropsychologists are ordered to turn over test data sheets to non-psychologists, and how to structure exams to avoid administration of tests that would be harmed by release of audio recording of testing to non-psychologists.
Kyle Brauer Boone, Ph.D., ABPP-ABCN, is currently in private practice in Torrance, California. She served as director of the Neuropsychology Testing Service at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center from 1986 to 2008, and from 1997 to 2008 she was a tenured professor within the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA. She has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles in the area of neuropsychological assessment, primarily regarding the development and validation of neurocognitive performance validity tests, and also has authored/co-authored/edited seven books, the most recent of which, a second edition of Assessment of Feigned Cognitive Impairment: A Neuropsychology Perspective, was released in 2021. She has also served as first author on three position papers related to psychological/neuropsychological test security: the 2022 Official Position of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology on Test Security; the 2024 Interorganizational Practice Committee position paper (“Attorney demands for protected psychological test information: Is access necessary for cross examination or does it lead to misinformation?”); and the 2024 Interorganizational Practice Committee position paper (“Release of protected test information under protective order: viable solution or illusory safeguard?”). She is board certified in clinical neuropsychology (ABPP/ABCN), served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology until January of 2024, and is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. She also was the 2020 recipient of the Ralph M. Reitan Award for Clinical Excellence (2020) from the National Academy of Neuropsychology; in 2023 she received the Distinguished Service Award to the Profession of Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP); and in 2025 she received the Distinguished Neuropsychologist Award from the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology and the award for Outstanding Service to the Field of Neuropsychology (2025) from the California Psychological Association (Division 8).
