New York State Association of Neuropsychology (NYSAN) presents a live webinar with Christina Wong, PhD, ABPP-CN
Contextual factors such as socioeconomic context represent important contributors to disparities in cognitive aging. Neighborhood disadvantage has been associated with adverse health outcomes, including worse cognitive functioning and elevated risk for dementia. Similarly, residence in rural communities has been identified as a contextual risk factor for dementia, highlighting the importance of delineating modifiable risk and protective factors that may mitigate rural–urban disparities. This presentation will examine the association between neighborhood disadvantage and cognitive outcomes among racially and ethnically diverse older adults and will consider factors that may uniquely contribute to disparities in cognitive aging within rural populations.
